About the Event
In partnership with the Bull Run Mountains Conservancy, Leopold's Preserve is offering our Friday Conservation Corps for anyone looking to volunteer on a flexible schedule. Volunteer events are available at the Preserve every Friday from 12:30 PM - 3:30 PM. Sign up for an hour or stay for the afternoon! All are welcome, but volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Friday Conservation Corps activities rotate on a weekly basis - all participants must register through our website so we can reach out with information about where to meet and details regarding the activity.
Attire: please wear long sleeves and pants to protect against thorns, insect bites, and poison ivy. All volunteers must wear sturdy, close-toed shoes sutiable for walking on uneven and muddy ground. To keep yourself comfortable, we recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray.
Equipment: please bring your own pair of protective work gloves. The gloves should be made of a sturdy material such as leather, to protect your hands when handling thorns or splintering pieces of wood. If you can, please bring a pair of garden clippers (pruners or similar). There is no running water available on site - you must bring your own bottle of water to drink.
Activity: keep an eye on your inbox a few days before the event. We'll send you details about where to meet and what to expect.
