About the Event

Join Park Manager Nick Davis for an engaging hike celebrating the power of habitat restoration. This program will take place entirely outdoors and will involve walking about 1.5 miles on natural-surface trails. Please dress for the weather and wear suitable walking shoes. This event is geared toward adult learners.

Witness the transformation of an old farm field as invasive weeds are removed and native habitat is restored. Learn to identify major threats like Japanese stiltgrass, Japanese honeysuckle vines, and tree-of-heaven, empowering you to make a difference.

Discover the thoughtful strategies our land stewardship team uses to restore balance, from timing treatments to prevent stiltgrass from seeding to tackling the stubborn roots of tree-of-heaven.

See which native wildflowers and warm-season grasses we use to help restore a thriving Piedmont ecosystem. Learn how a single restored field can provide critical nesting, foraging, and migration habitat for pollinators and wildlife across our region.
