About the Event

Our current nest boxes are worn out and in need of replacing!  Our Park Manager will lead an educational discussion about wood ducks, followed by nest box assembly. We will be screwing together pre-cut wood pieces to create new nest boxes for wood ducks in the Preserve. The boxes help ensure there are plenty of spots for these unique waterfowl to build their nests, and have contributed to the resurgence of a once-endangered species.

Attire: Close-toed shoed are required. We recommend wearing long sleeves, sunscreen, and a hat to prevent sunburn. Long pants and bug spray will discourage ticks.

Equipment: Please bring a pair of protective work gloves and your own #2 phillips head screwdriver. We will not have screwdrivers available to share. Of course, don't forget water to drink!

Location: We will meet and assemble the boxes on our wetland observation platform, accessible from Parking Lot West.
